Microcosm
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Microcosm is an evolution simulator. With just a starting organism or species, watch as mutation, natural selection, and exaptation enable offspring to diversify into new niches, leading to expansive speciation into new and previously uninhabitable environments.
The world of Microcosm is fully simulated, featuring a system that mimics chromosomes and genes to achieve genuine speciation. Run it for hours as it constantly changes, and log your observations in your Field Notebook.

Install instructions
Linux: Just run the Microcosm file.
Windows: Run the Microcosm.exe file and accept the risk. I am not a signed publisher, so it will get flagged as potential malware. Since this is a free project, I don't plan to pay for the signing. The source files are here if you prefer to inspect them and build the .exe yourself: https://github.com/CodapopKSP/Microcosm
Mac: Run the application file in the folder. Mac will not allow you to run it, because I am not a signed publisher (which costs $100 annually, something I'm not going to do). Your only options are to trash the file or cancel. Click cancel. Then open your system Settings, scroll down to Privacy and Security, and then scroll down near the bottom. You will see Microcosm there with an option to "Open anyway". From there you can select "Open anyway" in the popup and proceed to the game.
